Who we are:

Christian pilgrims, seeking together to:

  • become better disciples of Jesus;

  • work in partnership with other local churches in the Moorland Mission Community

  • be an open, welcoming and inclusive community;

  • play our part within the life of Ashburton and the wider world;

  • be a people-focused church;

  • communicate and live out our Christian faith;

Although we no longer own a church building Ashburton Methodists are still very much alive and active.   Worship is the heart-beat of all churches and we have developed a varied pattern of services to suit different tastes, in partnership with and to complement our sister churches.  Overall, we try to make what we do informal and accessible.  We have a weekly online prayer time on a Wednesday morning, whilst our monthly communion service is on a Thursday tea-time, outdoors when the weather permits.

The Breakfast Service (on the 4th Sunday of the month, 9.15 for 9.30am), our joint leadership of a monthly Moor and Messy Church, and our sharing in the annual Holiday Club are a part of the Mission Community’s offering to, and engagement with, families and children. Together in the Mission Community we are seeking to appoint a new part-time families’ worker.

 As Christians we are called to live out our faith throughout our lives, wherever God has placed us in the community.  As a church community we do this through hosting a knit and natter group (“Knitnuts”) and a weekly Tuesday coffee morning at the Town Hall, and through our ‘Growing Space’ project. Based in the grounds of the Royal British Legion, the Growing Space seeks to engage local people people in growing vegetable and/or flowers for community benefit, as well as holding associated events in the town.

We believe we are part of God’s outgoing care, making a difference in the world.
